When FA period opens, the following steps must be taken:
1. Any player that is not on a current FM roster, or prospect list is available to be bid on.
2. Lowest starting bid is $50,000.
3. All bids must increase by at least $50,000 in total money offered.
4. You must also offer a length for the contract (1-4 years).
When bidding on a new FA player:
Create a new thread with the subject line as the Players Name.
EX:
Subject: Andrew Luck
Body: Patriots offer 100k for 4 years.
=$400,000 total.
If that offer stands for 24 hours with no other offers, that team will be awarded the FA.
If another team wants to offer a better deal, you just respond to the original post.
EX: Jets offer 200k for 4 years.
=$800,000 total
The Jets could not offer $200k for 2 years as the total amount would = $400k, which is equal to the Patriots original offer.
You must increase the total money if you are bidding on a player.
*Off season
If you release a player, and you realize you want to pick that player up again. You must wait 7 days to re-offer on that player. If the player goes without an offer from another team in 7 days, then you may offer any years, for any amount (50,000 or higher). If another team put a bid, then you must start your bid with an = contract to what your released them at, or increase that same former contract with total money value.
EX: Lions release Nate Burleson 4 years, $3,000,000 on 8/22
If no one places a bid by 8/29, the Lions can bid any contract length and amount.
Say the Packers offer 3 years 50,000.
The Lions could only offer the original 4 year, $3,000,000 contract if they want to re-sign him.
Say you release a player with a 250,000 contract for 2 years.
Someone then bid within the 7-day time frame that you released that player and their bid was 300,000 for 2 years. The original team that released the player would then be allowed to bid on that player.
