1) When is the last day that a player can be released from the initial roster without having to eat 50% of the salary?
2) When does the free agency period end?
3) Is there any restriction on a team attempting to resign, either in free agency or waivers, a player that the team released earlier?

1) When is the last day that a player can be released from the initial roster without having to eat 50% of the salary? -the day before the NFL season begins
2) When does the free agency period end? - The day before the NFL season begins
3) Is there any restriction on a team attempting to resign, either in free agency or waivers, a player that the team released earlier? - ANy player realeased during the season will keep their current salary for the remainder of the season. so if you drop Calvin Johnson, but want to pick him up later int he season- he will still have the same Salary he did when you released him. The 50% cap hit from that player you accrued when you first dropped him will be removed if you pick that player back up later in the season (no point to get penalized twice for the same player's salary). But of course anytime your release a player, there is the possibility of another team grabbing them.

Ok. If I release Calvin Johnson today, and he goes into the pre-season FA pool, can he be signed at whatever price the FA process develops, maybe even $250,000 for 2 years?
